Narrative
Amber, an agent of happiness, travels the Himalayas of Bhutan, researching people’s happiness. On his distant mountain journey, he seeks fulfillment.. Watching Agent of Happiness, I wasn’t sure if it was a satire because the calculation of the happiness index seems… so simple. I mean, the barometer of happiness, if there can be one, is so complex that there are far too many things to consider. It was great to see the interviews the two main characters do with people from different walks of life and the potshots at some of them. people who are happy at the expense of others in their family. Perhaps the moral is that if most things in your life are good enough, you will most likely be happy. Even if that takes into account the number of cows you own or the latest iPhone. The main guy is charming and I wish I could be as happy as he is in the movie, regardless of the sources of his sadness. (Screened at the 2024 MAMI Mumbai Film Festival.)
